  1. Go to moodle.university.edu.hk and log in with your student ID and password.
  2. Navigate to My Courses → Educational Psychology (EDPS 1001).
  3. Click the Week 1 folder and download "Learning Theories — 2-Page Summary".
  4. Read it at your own pace. You do not need to submit anything before class.
  5. If you have login issues, contact the IT Help Desk at ithelp@university.edu.hk.

🤖 Use AI as a Starting Point

If you are curious, you may ask ChatGPT or Claude for a brief overview of the three learning theories before class. This is entirely optional.

Suggested prompts:

1. "Summarise the key ideas of behaviourism in under 100 words."
2. "What is the main difference between cognitivism and social constructivism?"
3. "Give me one classroom example for each of the three main learning theories."
⚠️ Important: Treat AI output as a starting point

AI summaries can be oversimplified, outdated, or contain errors. Use them to generate initial questions — not as a definitive source. In class, we will deliberately examine an AI output that contains an inaccuracy, so notice anything that seems uncertain now.

📋 Teacher Notes
  • If students haven't read: Begin with the 3-question Mentimeter poll (IDs 1–3 from Section 3) to gauge prior knowledge before any input. Do not assume background.
  • Gauge prior knowledge: Ask for a show of hands — "Who has heard of behaviourism before?" Use this to calibrate the opening pace.
  • If many have AI-explored: Ask what questions or surprises arose from their AI exploration. Use these as entry points for critical discussion.
